3 Months!

Thursday, June 27, 2013

Oh sweet Thomas, you've stolen my heart! You are such a sweet, smiley, happy baby! We are blessed!

This past month just flew by! Probably because I was officially out of the newborn fog and figuring out how to actually live life with a baby. It's quite the adjustment but oh so worth it. Thankfully it no longer takes an hour just to get out of the door. We even tackled three errands in one outing. After that, I felt like I had conquered Mt. Everest.

You have mastered tummy time but have decided rolling from your belly to back was so last month. You just don't seem that interested in it any more. Now when you're on your back, you always roll up to your left side and almost roll to your belly but so far think staying on your side is pretty cool.

You are now much more interested in your toys. You love your tree top friends that hang on your playmat and occasionally will love pat them (aka bat at them). Also, you love all of your black and white toys that your Bunny gave you, especially the black and white illustration of the little kid.

What's most exciting this month is how much you love to smile. When you see someone you recognize, you smile. You smile in response to our voices. Oh your smile. It melts my heart every time!

Baby Boy slow down! I love each day more than that last but you are just growing too fast!

Dallas Trip

Wednesday, June 26, 2013

It only took me two days to pack and we got to the airport 3 hours early...

But it was well worth the effort and anxiety of flying with a baby to introduce Thomas to Mimi.

Thomas also got to meet his cousins Carley and Sarah who spoiled him rotten! At one point, Sir Thomas got an eight hand massage after his bath.

More visits with Mimi where Thomas put on quite the smiles show.

And then we had a party for Thomas to meet more of his cousins and aunts and uncles. There was no shortage of love for Thomas. Oh so blessed!

Thomas didn't know it but he was the lucky guest for Penny's 2nd birthday party! Penny showed him her new art easel while Joanna masterfully fed Thomas, held a newborn and kept the puppy from nibbling Thomas' toes!

Great Aunt Paula came into town and I had to stop her from taking Thomas back to Tyler with her!

And then it was time for a pool party! Good thing Thomas tried on his sunnies the weekend before! He stuck pretty close. I think he was wondering why there were so many people in his bath and why the water was chilly!

One last visit to see Mimi before we were off to the airport. Always too quick of a visit but such a good time.

What happened to Month 3?! The last month flew by. Who am I kidding, the past three months have flown by! I can't believe that Thomas is 3 months today! Here's a little iPhone photo dump to catch up from the past couple of weeks. Big update from our trip to Dallas (!!) and Thomas' official 3 month post coming later this week.

Happy Father's Day!

Sunday, June 16, 2013

We celebrated Fathers' Day a day early and Thomas got to see all his favorites!

Andy, Thomas, Papa Bear and I spent the day at National Harbor for the Beer, Bourbon and BBQ Festival. And since we were there, we also took Thomas onto the boat for the first time... Safety first! Then his Grandma and Granddad came over to keep him while Andy and I went to an engagement party.

Happy Fathers' Day! Oh how lucky we are to have such wonderful Dads in our life!

2 Months!

Saturday, June 1, 2013

Precious baby boy is 2 months! Well now he's almost 10 weeks, since it's taken me a few days to get this post together. I'm still baffled by what I do all day. I wake up earlier than I ever have (and I'm a morning person!) and next thing I know, it's 6pm and the laundry is still in the washing machine from 2 days ago and dishes are piled in the sink.

Well, actually I do know what I've been up to... singing the song to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, making animal noises and giving lots of kisses! Just a few of Thomas' favorite things at 2 Months. A couple of weeks ago, we realized that Thomas has a preference to look right. I think this is partly our fault because that's how we would always put him in his crib so that we could see his precious little face in the monitor-- oops! Nothing serious but something I'm now cognizant of. One of my tricks for getting him to look left is to put on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (thanks Lissa for the suggestion!), lay him on his activity mat and then he turns his own head to the left to watch Mickey. Another one of his favorite activities is looking at his Wee Gallery Animal Art Cards (thanks Dee & Eleanor!). They're black and white animal drawings that just mesmerize Thomas. Or maybe he's mesmerized by me making the associated animal noises (btw, what noise does a giraffe make?).

At Thomas' 2 Month check-up he weighed 13lb 10oz (85th percentile), measured 23 7/8 inches (77th percentile) and his head is 16.25" (76th percentile). Is that why babies are so cute-- they're head circumference is 70% of their height?!

Since his 1 month check-up, he's gained about 2.5 pounds, grew half an inch and his head grew almost an inch!

Baby Boy is growing up too fast!
